A Wukari based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Mfanyima Orphanage Foundation (MOF) has put smiles on the faces of over 200 patients that are on admission at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi.
The Foundation did that on Tuesday 17th December, 2024 when it shared food items, clothing, footwear and detergents to the patients in almost all the wards of the hospital.
Speaking shortly before the commencement of the distribution, the founder and managing director of Mfanyima Orphanage Foundation, Mrs. Catherine Wakasa A. Solomon Nubunga, said that, she was moved to reach out to the patients having nursed her daughter for 5 months in the hospital after sustaining fracture in an accident when she was serving as a corps member.
Mrs. Solomon said that the gesture of sharing the items to the patients was the Foundation’s way of showing gratitude for God’s intervention in the speedy hailing of her daughter and ability of the health experts in the hospital for managing the case effectively and efficiently.
While highlighting the activities of MOF, the founder said that the Foundation is solely focused on taking care of Abandoned Babies, Orphans, Vulnerable Children (ABOVC), and also widows.
She said that the Foundation is committed to declare the love of Christ to the ABOVCS and Widows, stressing that, “This is achieved through celebrations at the end of every year, during Christmas festive season where the foundation visit various villages, towns, and cities to give these people reason to celebrate with joy and happiness”.
According to Mrs Solomon, the Foundation’s beneficiaries comprise the orphans. widows, physically challenged and the less privileged.
“It is important to state that this Foundation is not here for eyeservice, but to fulfill a biblical injunction to render service to humanity as the will of God.” (Ephesians 6:6-7)”, said Mrs. Solomon.
The Founder then expressed her gratitude to all the organisations, partners, and individuals who assisted in one way or the other towards the realisation of the ATBUTH outreach activity.
Mrs. Solomon concluded her remarks saying, “Don’t wait to have enough before you give out. It may not be of help to he who needs them at a particular time and day. The best thing to do with the best things in life is to give them away. Don’t wait to become rich before you help someone”.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of ATBUTH, Professor Yusuf Jibrin Bara expressed the hospital management’s gratitude for the gesture which he described as the first of kind in the hospital.
Represented by Dr. Haruna Liman, the CMD said that, it is the first time a caregiver and patient that was managed by the hospital coming back to give something in charity to patients that are currently on admission in the hospital.
He appreciated the Foundation’s gesture and further called on well meaning individuals and corporate organisations to emulate such gestures.
The CMD also offered touching prayers for more strength and financial support for the Foundation.
Later, the Mfanyima Orphanage Foundation team went round several Wards and gave out what they brought to the patients amidst murmurs of gratitude and appreciation.
