Bauchi Auditors Express Optimism on Capacity Training for Enhanced Audit Performance

Auditors in the Bauchi State civil service have expressed their optimism and commitment into applying knowledge gained during capacity training for enhanced performance in the discharge of their responsibilities in financial management.

This demonstration of commitment was palpable at the just concluded three-day capacity training on Internal Audit and Performance for the Bauchi State and Local Government Auditors, organized by USAID funded State Accountability Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity that just ended today in Bauchi.

Sharing his thoughts on the capacity training, Bauchi State Acting Auditor-General, Munkaila Yakubu Abubakar said the knowledge gained at the training would add value to their work as auditors and that, that in turn, would enhance public financial management system in the State.

Earlier in a short remarks, State Team Lead of State2State Activity, Bauchi Field Office, Rabi Ekele USAID State2State supported the capacity training because of the sensitive function of auditors in financial management system.

Ekele then implored the participants to cascade the training to their subordinates in their various offices which according to her, “is an opportunity of learning new things in Auditing, as a component of Public Financial Management that is critical to Government Operations”.

While highlighting the objective of the training, the Public Financial Management (PFM) Specialist of USAID State2State Activity, Mr Isaac Otabor said the training was primarily aimed at acquainting the participants with the requisite knowledge and needed requirements of conducting Performance Audit.

Mr.Otabor said the training has impacted knowledge on the trainees on Auditing, with special focus on effectiveness, efficiency and economy as well as ethics and equity.

Our correspondent reports that, participants for the training were drawn from the State and Local Audit departments, as well as the office of Bureau for public procurement.
