Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has sworn in newly elected Local Government Chairmen, alongside a Commissioner and six Special Advisers, charging them to justify public confidence through competence, integrity and effective service delivery.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Government House, Bauchi, the Governor said the consistent conduct of Local Government elections since 2019 underscores his administration’s commitment to deepening democracy and strengthening grassroots governance.

The swearing-in comes after the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, won all 20 chairmanship seats and 319 out of 323 councillorship positions in the state local government elections. Governor Mohammed attributed the sweeping victory to his administration’s performance in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply and security, noting that over 3,000 kilometres of roads have been completed across urban and rural communities.

He cautioned the new chairmen against misappropriation of Local Government funds, urging them to see themselves as servants of the people, collaborate with stakeholders and deliver tangible results.

In his response on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of Ningi Local Government, Yahuza Adamu Haruna, described the mandate as a serious responsibility, pledging to uphold the integrity of the office, promote the dignity of the local government system and improve the welfare of citizens.
