The premiere West African tourists site, Yankari Resort and Safari located in Bauchi State, Nigeria has recently received a boost from the Bauchi State Government with the approval of Three Billion Naira given by the State Governor, Sanetor Bala Mohammed, for the installation of new Solar Power source of energy in the famous tourists site.
Also, approval has been given for the total overhaul of the water reticulation system and renovation of the lodging accomodations within the Resort.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Abdullah Hassan Nasarawa recently, when a coalition known as Journalists for Tourism (JOT) visited him in his office at the Abubakar Umar Secretariat Bauchi
According to the Commissioner, the approvals were given by the Governor prior to the submission and request by the Ministry for an upgrade of facilities at the Resort with a view to attracting both domestic and foreign investments aimed at improving the revenue base of the State.
Nasarawa further revealed that, when completed, the upgraded Yankari Resort and Safari would create job opportunities for more than 500 youth within and outside the host communities, and also promote the cultural heritage of the State.
The Commissioner explained that work has already commenced at the site, which would soon be commissioned by Governor Bala Mohammed as soon as it is completed.
It could be recalled that, at several fora Governor Mohammed had reiterated his administration’s commitment in resuscitating tourists attractions in the State as part of the Governor’s legacy.
