Federal Government has pledged to implement recommendations of the Committee on the Establishment of the National Healthcare Facility Regulatory Agency (NHFRA), an independent body proposed to enhance healthcare standards nationwide.

At the official presentation of the committee’s report, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, highlighted the agency’s role in addressing regulatory gaps in both public and private healthcare facilities, assuring stakeholders that NHFRA would complement, not replace, existing regulatory bodies.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Daju Kachollom, described the initiative as a timely and visionary response to persistent healthcare challenges.

She commended the committee, chaired by Dr. Richardson Ajayi, for its thorough report, which includes a draft establishment plan, resource mobilization strategy, and implementation framework.

Dr. Ajayi reaffirmed that NHFRA aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring healthcare facilities meet essential standards of care.
