A gender focused Civil Society Organisation , Attah Sisters Helping Hand (ASHH) Foundation with support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), under the Plan International’s ASPIRE Project has carried out advocay visits to some key Ministries in Bauchi.
The objective of the visit was to strengthen ASHH Foundation’s partnership with Ministries especially in the effective implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) Education and menstrual hygiene management in schools.
At the Ministry of Health, the program manager of ASHH Foundation Mr. Kingsley Yalling thanked the ministry for giving the advocacy team the opportunity to discuss issues around SRHR education in schools.
He said the Ministry has a great role towards ensuring the Schools really understand what SRHR and its importance in the lives of adolescent girls’wellbeing.
Yalling also suggested to the Ministry of Health to collaborate with the Ministry of Education in that direction.
Similar advocay visit was paid to the ministry of Budget, Economic Planing and Multilateral Coordination.
At the ministry, the ASHH Foundations advocacy team lead Kingsley Yalling spoke extensively on the Foundations collaboration with GAC funded ASPIRE Project.
In their responses, officials of the ministries appreciated ASHH Foundation for the bold step in engaging the Ministry on the need to mainstream SRHR education is schools.
