In continuation of its engagements with different segments of community members, Attah Sisters Helping Hand (ASHH) Foundation has conducted a sensitization session with 40 adolescent girls in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The purpose of the sensitization engagement was to raise awareness on the rights of young women and adolescent girls, particularly in relation to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
During the session, adolescent girls voiced concerns over their exclusion from key life decisions, including marriage, health, and education, which are often made solely by their parents.
They stressed the need for greater inclusion in decision-making processes that directly impact their futures.
Speaking during the activity, the technical program officer of ASHH Foundation, who facilitated the session , Rita Ayim stressed that, “every girl deserves a voice in decisions that shape her future”.
Ayim emphasized the importance of empowering young girls to take control of their lives through inclusive discussions and policies.
According to Ayim, the session marks another step toward fostering awareness, advocacy, and action for young women’s rights in Bauchi State.
Our correspondent reports that the sensitization engagement was part of ASPIRE Project that is being funded by Global Affairs Canada through Plan International, and is aimed at promoting gender equality and ensuring young girls’ rights are respected.
