J4PD Commences Development of a 5 Year Strategic Plan

Journalists for Public Health Development Initiative (J4PD), a Bauchi based Civil Society Organisation (CSO) has commenced the development of its Strategic Plan to further enhance its collaboration with Government MDAs, Implementing Partners and other Non Profit Organisations.

It is envisaged that, developing such  documents as the Strategic Plan and the accompanying Annual Operational Plan (AOP) will guide the implementation of the Organisation’s programs in line with the overall goal of J4PD.

In a welcome remarks shortly before the commencement of the Strategic Plan Development Workshop on Tuesday 14th January, 2025  holding in Bauchi, Executive Director of J4PD Elizabeth Carr said that one of the major objectives of the workshop was to develop a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the organizations vision, mission, and core values.

Carr said that other objectives include: identifying key priorities and objectives for the Organisation’s programs and activities and, to establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and impact.

She then implored the participants to contribute their inputs by participating actively during the workshop.

In a goodwill message, the Bauchi State Team Lead of USAID Nigeria funded State  Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity, and Rabi Ekele commended J4PD for taking the bold step in developing their Strategic Plan.

She said that Strategic Plan Document is one of the major criteria in attracting partnership with donor organisations and that it would equally guide J4PD in implementing their programs and activities aimed at achieving organisational objectives.

Also speaking, the Director of Donor Coordination in the Bauchi State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planing and Multilateral Coordination, Usman Muhammad described J4PD’s zeal in reporting developmentental issues as innovative and that the Strategic Plan would further support the organisation in articulating their activities and programs with implementing partners in the State.

There were other goodwill messages from sister CSOs, commending J4PD for their advocacies through their reportages in their areas of competence that is focusing on sustainable development in Healthcare, Education, WASH, Gender and Social Inclusion, Climate and Environment and Empowerment.

Our Correspondent reports that it is expected that by the end of the workshop, J4PD will have a clear understanding of the organization’s vision, mission, and values and also identify key priorities and objectives for the organization’s programs and activities. Other expected outcomes of the workshop would be the development of a comprehensive strategic plan that outlines key strategies, tactics, and timelines.

It is also expected that a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and  impact of J4PD’S programs and activities would be developed.
