Bauchi Police Command Gives 2024 Scorecard, Recorded 2322 Arrests

A total of A total of one thousand, one hundred and eighty-two (1182) cases that resulted in the arrests of two thousand three hundred and twenty-two (2322) suspects was recorded last year by the Bauchi State Police Command.

Out of these numbers, six hundred and seventy-eight (678) cases and eight hundred and ninety-five (895) suspects were charged to court.

The Bauchi State Police Commissioner CP Auwal Musa Muhammad psc, Anipr disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing with newsmen. He said that forty-eight (48) cases involving eighty-two (82) suspects culminated in successful convictions.

The CP Muhammad further revealed that, three hundred and ninety-six (396) cases involving eight hundred and sixteen (816) suspects remain pending trial, while thirty (30) cases are currently under investigation.

According to the CP, the Command, in the period under review, documented seventy-three (73) cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

CP Muhammad said that in the course of carrying out their operations, the following exhibits were recovered:


-Twenty-three (23) AK-47 rifles

– Four (4) G-3 rifles

– Three (3) SMG rifles

– Twenty-two (22) fabricated or cut-to-size firearms

– Five (5) fabricated pistols

– Seven hundred and forty-six (746) live ammunitions of various calibres

– Thirty-two (32) magazine

– One hundred (100) cartridges

– Sixty-eight (68) cutlasses

– Twenty-six (26) Knives

– Ten (10) motor vehicles

– Twenty-nine (29) motorcycles

– Sixty-nine (69) handsets

– Twenty-eight (28) tricycles and

–  A cash sum of twenty-two million and thirty-eight thousand naira (₦22,038,000)

He said that the successes were facilitated through critical information provided by the public, who remain essential partners in the effort to ensure a safe and secure environment.

“In accordance with the policy trust of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, aimed at combating crime and enhancing the safety of all citizens for economic development, the Command, under my leadership, is implementing decisive measures to address criminal activities within the state. Our efforts will primarily focus on proactive initiatives designed to deny safe havens to criminal elements who may seek to challenge our commitments.

“To further this objective, the Command has undertaken a comprehensive reassessment of its crime prevention strategies, with Community Policing serving as the foundational element of our approach. As a result, we have achieved the following significant outcomes through the efforts of our State Criminal Investigation Department, the State Intelligence Department (SID), and Area commands, alongside thirty-three (33) Divisional Headquarters and tactical units attached to the command”, said CP Muhammad.

He then emphasized that the command is fully prepared and equipped for 2025, reiterating the commands readiness to deploying further strategies to safeguard lives and property while building upon the successes achieved in 2024.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the citizens of Bauchi State for their ongoing cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force.

“My appreciation also extends to our sister agencies, quasi-security outfits, and traditional and religious institutions for their steadfast support in fostering a safer Bauchi.

“To the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Command, I commend your professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices. Your contributions have been pivotal to our successes.

“I also wish to express my profound appreciation to the Bauchi State Government, under the distinguished leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, for his unwavering support and commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force in the state.

“While we remain steadfast in our mandate to ensure peace and security, we appeal to the public to continue providing timely and accurate information. Policing is a collective responsibility, and your cooperation is imperative to our success”, the CP concludes.
