Bauchi State Government, through the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has commenced the distribution of relief aids to persons affected by flood disasters of 2024.
The items distributed were donated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Government of the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
The StateĀ Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, while flagging off the distribution exercise in Bauchi on Friday, said that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed is committed to always coming to the aid of the citizens in their time of needs.
Wanka disclosed that the items being distributed were donated by the UAE and NEMA, stressing that, “the State Government under His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, also complemented the effort by donating bags of rice and maize, in addition to what UAE and NEMA gave to the State”.
She said that items shared were meant as relief aid to communities affected by the 2024 flood disaster across the 14 Local Government areas of the State.
While handling over the relief package donated by NEMA,Ā Zonal Head of Operations of the Agency, Hajiya Umma Ahmed, expressed NEMA’s hope that the items will assist in aiding the victims of the flood.
She also appreciated the State Government for designing a workable distribution template that would ensure equitable distribution of the items donated.
In his vote of thanks, Director-General of the StateĀ Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Engineer Masāud Aliyu, expressed Bauchi State Government’s gratitude to both NEMA, UAE Government for the donated items,Ā stressing the critical role the items will play in alleviating the hardships faced by the victims.
Our Correspondent reports that items distributed at the flag off exercise includes hundreds of bags of rice and maize, pumping sprays, and 500 knapsack sprayers.
