Bauchi Fitness Clubs Hold Annual Grand Walk Amidst Atmosphere of Cameraderie

Thousands of fitness enthusiasts took to the major streets of Bauchi metropolis on Saturday 7th December 2024 to embark on the 6th edition of the Bauchi State Coalition of Body Fitness Clubs Annual Grand Walk.


The grand walk witnessed massive turnout of all the Fitness Clubs operating in Bauchi and their members. This year’s edition also witnessed the participation of some Federal Legislators, Bauchi State House of Assembly Members, Commissioners and other high ranking VIPs.


The 8 Kilometres Walk took off from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) amidst drum beats, with some deejays blasting music to boost the morale of the Walkers and about 30 power bikers displaying their skills and talents, which added colour and excitement to the Grand Walk.


Speaking shortly after the 2024 Annual Grand Walk, the Chairman of the local organising committee (LOC), Honourable Aminu Ali Garu commended the participants for coming out to participate in Annual Grand Walk.


Hon. Aliyu Garu, who is representing Bauchi Central Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said the Annual Grand Walk is not only an avenue to advocate for fitness exercise among the general public, but also to promotes unity, friendship and peaceful coexistence among people of Bauchi State.


He thanked all the sponsors that donated jerseys and other logistics arrangements for the successful conduct of the Walk.

In a goodwill message, the deputy chairman of the house committee on sports in the federal house of Representatives Hon. Jajere described the Grand Walk as a noble activity that should be emulated by other States across the Federation.


He said that as soon as he gets back to Abuja, he will reach out to other house members and advocate for organising such activities in their respective constituencies.


There were goodwill messages from the State Government reiterating their support for the event, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Shafa Organisation, major sponsors of the event, Representative of Women participants, calling for more women participation, and  Bikers Association, who said that they are exploring the prospect of hosting bikers event soon.
