Two Bauchi based Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Mufarka Mata and Glitter Sparkling Heart Foundation are appealing to Government, Corporate Bodies and the general public to come to the aid of a Sickle Cell teenager Yahya Abubakar to enable him have access to healthcare services.
Yahya Abubakar, an orphan that lost his father, was born with sickle cell disease. After losing his father, his mother has been his sole caregiver, but the medical expenses associated with managing the illnemt have been overwhelming.

The Executive Director of Glitter Sparkling Heart Foundation, Saudatu Abdullahi told our correspondent that the between the two CSOs, they were able to covered the current medical bills, but that they knew that their assistance is not sustainable.
Saudatu disclosed that they have thought over the issue and came up with the idea of empowering the mother to start up a petty business with a view to taking care of future medical bills and other needs of her son.
“Our goal is to raise at least ₦500,000 to establish a sustainable business for Yahya’s mother so that she can support her son during future health crises”.
“The donation will help us to provide a stable income source for the family, cover ongoing medical expenses and also take care of some of Yahya’s needs”, said Saudatu Abdullahi.
