Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has called on the traditional institutions, religious bodies, civil society organisations (CSOs) and other professional bodies to assist the Government in calming the youths over the ongoing nationwide protests.
The Governor made the plea at a security meeting he held with the State security agencie and other key stakeholders stressing that it is only in an atmosphere of peace and dialogue that the Nation can address some of genuine agitation of the protesters.
He said that the purpose of the meeting was explore other avenues of curtailing the protests through constructive dialogue that could usher in a more progressive approach to addressing the harsh economic situation the country found itself in .
“As community leaders you are much closer to the people and the citizens also accords much respect for the traditional institutions.The people listen to you.
“I equally implore the religious leaders to use their pulpits and reach out to youths to imbibe dialogue as a means of resolving issues.
“The CSOs, Youth Groups , Students Union bodies and other professional bodies here all have a role to play in calming frayed-nerves that is threatening the relative peace we are enjoying in Bauchi State to the envy of other States”, the Governor implored.
The Governor said at Government level, the administration is doing everything humanly possible in providing enabling environment for wealth creation through infrastructural development and other developmental programs and activities of Government.
