Bauchi based NGOs working on Gender and Social Inclusion have commended the effort of the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye for her advocacy campaigns on Women Inclusion in Governance across the Country.

The commendation was given to the Minister by the NGOs when the Minister visited Bauchi State recently in continuation of her advocacy campaigns under the Ministry’s initiative tagged, “Scaling up Women Inclusion in Governance”.

In a goodwill message on behalf of the NGOs at an interactive session between the Minister and Women groups at the banquet hall of Government House Bauchi, the
Executive Director ASHH Foundation, Comfort Attah said that the NGOs are optimistic that the visit by the Minister will further encourage Governor Bala Mohammed’s efforts to further enhance women’s roles in governance and development in Bauchi State

Attah said that Bauchi State, under leadership of Governor Mohammed, has made impactful strides in promoting women inclusion that can be seen in the appointment of five (5) women Commissioners, the first-ever Lady Caretaker Chairperson of Bauchi LGA, and several key positions held by women in the state Government.

“Such appointments of women were those in the State’s MDAs like SDGs office, BASOVCA, BASAME, Agency for Persons With Disabilities, Multi-Lateral Coordinator and Diaspora Coordinator of Bauchi State.

“This progressive approach not only sets a commendable precedent, but also serves as an inspiration for other states to follow suit in ensuring gender equality and empowerment”, Attah said.
