Bauchi Commits to Sustaining Good Governance, as USAID State2State Wraps Year 5 State Level Work Plan

The office of the Bauchi State Head of Service (HoS) has expressed its determination for continued training on good governance and inculcating the values of prudent management of scarce resources in the implementation of the State Government policies and programs.

The Bauchi HoS office also reiterated its commitment to collaborate with development partners for enhanced civil service through technical support and capacity building.

The permanent secretary in the office of the HoS, Barr. Ibrahim Umar Shira stated this at the end of a 3 day intensive workshop of the USAID State2State year 5 State Level Work Plan held in Kano.

Shira also pledged the support of the office of the HoS for the remaining one year of the State2State activity, assuring that the State priority MDAs would strive to institutionalise the lessons learnt from the USAID State2State intervention.

Also speaking, the permanent of the Bauchi State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination Jibrin Mohammed Yusuf thanked USAID State2State for strengthening the Bauchi State organisational capacity of the priority sectors of Health, Education and WASH.

Jibrin maintained that USAID State2State intervention in impacting in the Three focused critical sectors, stressing that, the results from the current organisation capacity assessment (OCA) of the priority sectors carried out by USAID State2State gives credence to the assertion.

The permanent secretary then reassured USAID State2State of the Ministry’s determination in providing enabling environment for development interventions in the State.

In her parting remarks at the end of the exercise, USAID State2State Chief of Party (CoP) Irene Karimi expressed her delight at the level of active participation of Bauchi participants.

Karimi then hinted that in the remaining few months of the State2State Activity in Bauchi State, implementation of the Year 5 work plan will be carried out at a fast phase.

The CoP  urged the key priority sectors MDAs to avail itself the window of opportunity provided in the few months to address all gaps captured in the work plan.

While appreciating the high level participants for accepting to be part of the State Level Year 5 Work Plan, Bauchi State Team Lead (STL) of USAID State2State, Rabi Ekele described their active participation as heartwarming.

Ekele informed the participants that State2State would further study the draft work plan to ensure that it is aligned with the intervention’s objectives.
