Bauchi State Government, through the State Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties says the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed has made significant strides in improving the lives of rural residents and addressing the unique challenges faced by communities outside urban centers.
The State Government also said that , through collective efforts and unwavering commitment to service, the Government has achieved notable milestones that have positively impacted the lives of countless individuals and families across the State.
This assertion was made by the Bauchi State Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties Honourable Faruk Mustapha at the ongoing Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Auditorium of the State Secretariat on Monday 9th July, 2024.
The Commissioner said that, one of the key achievements of the ministry has been the successful implementation of infrastructure development projects in rural areas, including the construction of roads, bridges, and rural electricity networks.
“These critical infrastructure projects have not only improved connectivity and access to essential services but have also enhanced the overall quality of life for rural residents, enabling them to thrive and prosper in their communities.
“In addition to infrastructural development, our ministry has also focused on promoting sustainable agriculture practices and enhancing security in rural areas, through targeted initiatives and partnerships with stakeholders by provision of Access Road which supported farmers to increase their productivity, adopting modern farming techniques, and accessing markets for their produce.
“These efforts have not only boosted the agricultural sector but have also improved the livelihoods of farmers/rural dwellers and contributed to economic growth in rural communities”, said Mustapha.
While highlighting some of the milestones achieved by the ministry, the Commissioner said that, the present administration has repaired/refurbished (3) Hilux for the supervision to an ongoing and prospective Rural Roads construction and rehabilitation.
He also disclosed that the sum of N1.500,000.00 has been approved and released for the successful Kick start of the repairs of the Ministry’s Heavy Duty Machines for the provision of Rural Access Roads.
Other successes recorded include, but not limited to:
– Secured approval for the repair or re-construction of Culvert on Chinade-Gangai Feeder Road worth N44,656,680.003 Naira awaiting releases and to be executed through direct labour
– Supply and installation of 300KVA, 33/0.415k distribution Transformer at Londo, Alkaleri LGA N13,822,912.00
– Supply and installation of 300KVA, 33/0.415k distribution Transformer at Ung. Ajiya (Masuri) Alkaleri LGA N8,795,620.00
– Installation of 300KVA, 11/0.415k distribution Transformer at Shira Town Shira LGA N4,688,752.00
– Replacement of Burnt 300KVA,33/0.415k distribution Transformer at Buri – Buri Alkaleri LGA N13,594,900.00
Mustapha also said that the State Government has passed two laws establishing Rural Road Authority and State Road Fund as part of Road Sector Reform and sustainability arrangement.
