A Northern based civil society pressure group, Sahelian Youth Forum for Good Governance and Advocacy (SYFGGA) has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara not to be distracted by detractors of the State.

SYFGGA also commended the Governor for entrenching good governance through the swearing in of Caretaker Chairmen of the respective LGs to further usher in development to the State.
The National President of the group, Comrade Aminu Harsanu Guyaba gave the pass mark to Governor Fubara at a well attended press conference in Bauchi on Thursday 20th June, 2024.
Comrade Guyaba said that, since assuming office last year, Governor Fubara has demonstrated exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Rivers State.
“His administration has been marked by numerous achievements that have positively impacted the lives of the citizens. From infrastructural development to healthcare improvements and economic empowerment, Governor Fubara’s dedication to serving the people of Rivers State is evident in every facet of human endeavours”.
“We appreciate Sir Siminalayi Fubara for his doggedness and resilience in the face of challenges. It is disheartening to see that some unscrupulous elements are working behind the scenes to distract him from the good work he has been doing. These elements, having exhausted their tenure, seek to continue exerting control over the state. This is not only undemocratic but also detrimental to the progress and stability of Rivers State”, said Comrade Guyaba.
The group then called on President Bola Tinubu the challenge associated with external control over a sitting governor and the potential harm it can cause to the state’s Governance and development.
The group further called on the National Assembly to urgently look into the political imbroglio in Rivers State with a view to giving a space to Governor Fubara to work for his people and provide them with the dividends of democracy.
“Legislative intervention is crucial to maintaining the sanctity of our democratic processes and ensuring that the will of the people is respected”.
“As a Northern group, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed caretaker committee chairmen. We urge you to perform your duties diligently and to uphold the confidence the Governor Fubura has in you. Your role is pivotal in supporting the governor’s vision and ensuring the continued progress of Rivers State”.
“To the people of Rivers State, we urge you to remain calm and law-abiding citizens. Your Governor is committed to your welfare and will continue to do everything possible to protect you and your properties. The SYFGGA stands in solidarity with you and assures you that we will continue to advocate for good governance and the rule of law” said the group..
