Bauchi Gov’t Commences Distribution of 110,000 Bags of Food Items as Ramadan Palliative

…..Commends Humanitarian Ministry for Coordination

Hundreds of residents of Bauchi Local Government Area (LGA) thronged into the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium to witness the commencement of distribution of over one hundred and ten thousand (110,000) bags of food items by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State.

The exercise, which is a collaboration between the state and federal government, is tagged Ramadan Food Palliative and is targeting beneficiaries across all the three hundred and twenty three (323) political wards of the State.

Flagging off the exercise on Thursday 21st March, 2024 at the ATBS Governor Mohammed said the distribution exercise was aimed at cushioning the effects of the hardship being experienced by most vulnerable target groups in the State

The Governor said over two billion naira was expended in procuring the items and that a high powered committee has been constituted to ensure judicious distribution of exercise.

Governor Mohammed then commended the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for coordinating the distribution process which is in line with the Federal Government guidelines for the implementation of the exercise.

In her address, the state Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka assured the Governor of fairness, equity and justice in carrying out the exercise.

Wanka said that all mechanisms have been put in place to ensure smooth implementation of the process in line with the committee’s terms of reference.

Our Correspondent reports that the composition of the distribution committee comprised LG chairmen, Religious/Community leaders, CSOs and the media among others.

All the Wards in Bauchi LG got their share of Ramadan Palliative during the flag off exercise that was witnessed by Emir of Bauchi Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu and all the State cabinet members.
