Bauchi IRS Officials Prep for Peak Performance

..as USAID S2S ends capacity training workshop

Bauchi State officials of Internal Revenue Service (BSIRS) have expressed their optimism towards increased revenue for the State.

The revenue officials also disclosed that they are equipped to deploy all the  resources at their disposal to block leakages and enhance the Board’s revenue drive.

These pledges were made by participants at the end of a Three- Day capacity building workshop on Tax Audit and Investigation organised for Bauchi IRS officials by USAID Nigeria funded State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity.

Kabiru Ahmad (Walin Gabas of Misau) said that the workshop has broadened his knowledge on the rudiments of tax audit and investigations, that forms the bedrock of revenue generation in any given entity, whether Government or private.

Another official of the State IRS Hajiya Aishatu Tahir shared her thoughts with our correspondent saying, “no doubt, the knowledge gained at the just concluded capacity training will add value to my job as tax revenue official. I am glad I attended the training”.

Another participant Amina Adamu Jumba said that she had learnt so many innovations and techniques in tax collection, auditing and investigation pointing out that, “the knowledge gained is invaluable and I will certainly step it down to my colleagues who were not privileged to attend this training”.

Haruna Muhammad Maigari, another participant from State Internal Revenue Service, hailed the workshop contents, stressing that, “The three-day interactive sessions and resource materials of the workshop has deepened our understanding of tax audit and investigation, thus complementing our expertise in the field.”

Mrs.Mary Ibrahim commended the resource persons for the excellent facilitation techniques saying, “The workshop provided clarity on grey areas, empowering us to excel in our roles as tax revenue officials”.

IRS Assistant Chief Inspector of Tax, Abubakar Hassan, described  the workshop as educational and value-driven. He emphasized the practical applicability of the acquired knowledge, affirming the participants’ commitment to implementing newfound strategies in their work.
“With the wealth of knowledge gained, we are poised to enhance our performance and contribute meaningfully to our respective roles,” Abubakar assured.


Our correspondent reports that the 26 participants collectively develop the “Next Step” where a proposed date was set aside for the validation  of the Tax Audit and Investigation Manual.

Part of the Next Step also identified Step down the training to be conducted by the IRS with technical support to be provided by USAID State2State.
