Arrangement have reached advance stage for the piloting of a Special Police Squad to complement regular policing by the Nigerian Police Force in Bauchi and other 9 States of the Federation.
Members of the special squad will comprise highly trained and well motivated officers and personnel of the police force established to check excesses of criminal elements within the Country.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun disclosed this in Bauchi when he paid a courtesy call to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed during a working visit to the State on Wednesday 14th February, 2024.
IGP Egbetokun said the proposed Special Squad is a new security initiative aimed at effectively respond to all forms of crime and criminality across the country.
IGP Egbetokun , while acknowledging Governor Bala’s huge investment in security, noted that the state was chosen in view of it strategic advantage in addressing security challenges in northern parts of the country.
Responding, Governor Bala Mohammed who described the IGP’s intervention as commendable assured the support of his administration towards the success of the special squad initiative.
He then urged the IGP to also leverage on advancing technology for enhanced operations in combating crime.
