….. reprimands contractor over shoddy job

The Chairman and Management team of North-East Development Commission (NEDC) have recently visited Bauchi State as part its oversight function.
The Commission under the leadership of it’s Chairman, Major General Paul Tarfa Rtd and Managing Director/CEO Mohammed Goni Alkali first visited the Emir of Bauchi at his palace, where the leader of the delegation informed the Emir,Alhaji (Dr) Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu the purpose of their visit.
The Board Chairman said that the team were in the State in continuation of their familiarization visit to the North Eastern region with a view to reintroducing the newly reconstituted board of the commission and also supervise ongoing projects under the commission.
The Chairman expressed the board’s gratitude to State Government and the traditional institutions for creating enabling environment to accelerate the Commission’s ongoing projects in the State.
Responding, The Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, appreciated the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for executing multi billion naira life-touching projects across the six states in the region.
He said that the impact NEDC is being felt by citizens of the region especially in the areas of agriculture, housing, education, health care, roads and other infrastructures and that such effort is restoring hope on people of the region.
In a related development, the Board and Management of the Commission have expressed their displeasure at the quality of job at the ongoing 500 units housing in Dungal village of Bauchi State.
The board openly reprimanded the contractor handling the project and further summons him to the board’s head officer in Maiduguri.
Some of the projects inspected include the ongoing construction of Medical Emergency Unit, Ophthalmology complex at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, as well as the ongoing construction of NEDC Mega School where the commission expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done.
The Commission also inspected the ongoing construction of its annex office along Bauchi-Jos road, medical facility in the Bauchi metropolis and an ultra-modern cattle market in Soro, Ganjuwa local government area among others.
