Bauchi Legislature Builds Synergy with Budget Ministry

……… commissioner commends house for oversight functions

For effective implementation of budget processes aimed at improved service delivery to the public, the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation said it is committed to building synergy with the state ministry of Budget, Economic planning and Multilateral Coordination.

Chairman of the house committee, Honorable (Barrister) Habibu Umar stated this on Tuesday 19th, 2023, when the committee paid a familiarization visit to the ministry.


Along side five other members of the appropriation committee, Honorable Umar said the visit would afford them the opportunity to rub minds, get to know each and also get a first hand information on how the ministry operates.

He then pledged the resolve of the committee to collaborate and support the ministry in bringing meaningful development to Bauchi State through it’s budget implementation and other programs.

Responding, the State Commissioner of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Aminu Hammayo appreciated the visit by the Committee members, which he described as heartwarming.

Hammayo briefly explained to the visitors the mandate of the ministry that includes among others responsibilities, preparation of the state budget, developing strategic plans and roadmaps to guide Government in its policy implementation.


The  commissioner also informed the house committee members that the ministry is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating all donor interventions and other multilateral activities and programs in State.

He said the visit was timely, especially looking at the role budget play in the execution of developmental projects, programs and activities of Government aimed at making life meaningful to citizens of the State.

Hammayo further stated that the 2024 proposed budget is almost ready for ratification by the executive and thereafter will be send to the legislature for passage into law.

In a short remarks and having been officially introduced to the visitors by the Commissioner, the new Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor on Multilateral Coordination, Senator Mohammed Bello expressed his delight seeing  the atmosphere of camaraderie  by legislature and part of executives.

The adviser said that such synergy breeds productive results that translates into good governance.

Senator Bello described the technical capacity of the Commissioner Hammayo as excellent and that he could not have asked for a better person to work with in the ministry.

In a vote of thanks, permanent secretary of the ministry, Idris Sale Giade commended the gesture of the legislature for taking the first step to visit the ministry despite the ministry’s intention of paying the first visit to the house committee.


Sale Giade said that no doubt, the visit has opened up another vista of partnership between the ministry and the legislature.

He then appreciated Commissioner Aminu Hammayo for his leadership style that is tilted towards mentorship and cascading knowledge to subordinates.

The permanent secretary also seized the opportunity to welcome the new adviser on Multilateral Coordination to the ministry, pledging the full support of the staff of the ministry.
