The visibly angered Governor was speaking shortly before the commencement of an emergency meeting with key managers of Education at the Banquet Hall of the Government House on Monday.

“What i saw during such supervisions clearly showed that monies earmarked for the development of education is being siphoned by some saboteurs amongst some officials. If you think that you can corner public funds and get away with it, you are mistaken. If either of you is found wanting, you will be disgrace out of office and prosecuted, without pension or gratuity”.
Governor Mohammed further said that, before declaring emergency in our education sector, we must declare emergency on our selves, stressing that,”Very soon, we will be having an education summit in the administration’s efforts towards charting an innovative course to further improve education in the State”.
Governor Bala Mohammed then ordered that going forward, SUBEB will be under the supervision of the ministry of education and all LGA education secretaries to hit the ground running and perform their functions as they should.
For the 20 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen that were present at the meeting, the Governor ordered them to carry out a comprehensive school census in their respective LGAs and forward same to the state ministry of education.
Venting his anger further, the Governor berated the education officials saying, “by now we should talking of building mega schools across the state and not grappling with dilapidated school structures that were supposed to have been rehabilitated and new ones built”.
