PDP Condemns Killing of Supporter, Attack on Hapless Victims by APC in Bauchi

Less than 24 hours after signing peace accord by political parties vying for elective offices in Bauchi State, the campaign directorate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State has condemned the alleged attacks of Duguri residents by the supporters of the State All Progressive Congress (APC) leading to the alleged death of their supporter and maiming of others.

The Director General of the state campaign directorate of the PDP Honorable Faruk Mustapha described the attack as one too many, calling on the the security agencies in the state to arrest the perpetrators of the dastard act that led to the alleged death of one Mallam Maianguwa Shata of Duguri village and many with various degrees of injuries.

Addressing newsmen in Bauchi Wednesday evening, Mustapha alleged that the campaign train of the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Baba Sadiq Abubakar were in Duguri Village, the home town of the sitting Governor and candidate of the state ruling PDP, Governor Bala Mohammed and allegedly engaged the supporters of Governor , that were chanting their support for the Governor, in a fracas leading to the death of one person, score of injured members of community and destruction of all PDP billboards and offices in the village.

Mustapha lamented the unfortunate incident saying that “in all our campaigns, we have never killed even a chicken. Our Governor has always been a proponent of peace and politics without bitterness. That was why he was in vanguard of signing the peace accord organized by the police command of which the APC gubernatorial candidate failed to show up”.

Hon. Mustapha recalled that the same ugly incident happened in Toro Local Government and Akuyam village of Misau Local Government Area, where 3 people were shot death by the security personnel of Baba Sadiq Abubakar when the Gubernatorial candidate of the APC went on campaign tour.

The DG then called on the ministry of defense to check the flagrant abuse of using conventional security personnel and firearms in the name of providing security to retired members of the armed forces.

Reacting on the postponement of the Governorship election by INEC, the DG said that PDP in Bauchi State are not perturbed by the postponement stressing that, “even if the election is postponed till the end of month, we are confident of victory at the poll”.
