I’ll Be Far from Abuja After May 29 – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said after leaving office, he will retire to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, to rest and distance himself from political activities in Abuja when he leaves office on May 29, 2023.

The President said this on Sunday when he received residents of the Federal Capital Territory on Christmas homage.

Using the occasion to reassure Nigerians that he will not stay in office a day longer than the stipulated time, he further expressed appreciation to Nigerians for trusting, supporting and giving him the opportunity to serve as their leader.

In his address earlier, the FCT minister thanked the President for opening his doors to his neighbours for one last time.

While noting that the Christmas visit will be the last in the Buhari regime, Bello expresses gratitude that the meeting is holding after it was halted for two years, 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the CAN Vice President of the and President of Evangelical Church Winning All, Stephen Panya said the Christian community is in “full support “ of Buhari’s efforts and pray for him to end his tenure well.

However, Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi seized the occasion to call on Nigerians not to fear because Asiwaju Bola Ahmed is large-hearted and best suited to be President come 2023.

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a life-size Christmas Card signed by the FCT minister and his deputy, Ramatu Aliyu.
