Sallah: Bauchi Marks Eid-ul-Fitr With Pomp and Pageantry

Despite the economic downturn being experienced by many Nigerians, citizens of Bauchi State have marked the Eid-ul-Fitr with pomp and pageantry which herald the end of the Ramadan Fast.

In his Sallah message to the people of the state, the state governor Bala Mohammed advised Muslims to apply the lessons of the Ramadan towards solving personal, communal and national problems.

This, according to the governor, will entrench the deepening of personal discipline, family values, and love of one another, national unity and above all, our personal relationship with Allah.

“We must work hard at deepening the values of tolerance, love and peaceful co-existence and never take the relative peace we enjoy in Bauchi State or Allah’s mercies for granted”, said the governor.

He also called on all political parties and contestants of various elective offices, to prevail on their supporters to be of good conduct in the course of their campaigns.

With regards to the recent unfortunate communal crisis that erupted in Gudun Hausawa community of the State which led to the loss of lives and destruction of properties, the governor said, “this goes to remind us that, despite the sustained effort of the state government to ensure peace and the security of lives and property, there are still miscreants among us who are hell-bent on causing confusion and disorder.

Such people do not represent who we are. I would therefore like to reiterate the resolve of the state government, to deal decisively with the perpetrators of the mayhem, some of whom have been arrested by the security agencies”

“As a government, we will not relent in our drive to ensure continuous peaceful coexistence among the heterogeneous ethnic and religious groups in the state. I appeal for your continued understanding, cooperation and support towards the realization of this noble objective”.
The Governor also thanked and Praised Allah (SWT) for enabling Muslims observed the holy month of Ramadan.

“I congratulate the Muslim Umma on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr. Coming after a highly demanding fast, amidst gruelling and unprecedented socio-economic, political and security challenges.

In a related development, Governor Bala Mohammed has reiterated the resolve of his administration to ensure a free, fair and peaceful general election in the state.
He stated this on Tuesday when he received the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu and other traditional title holders during the Hawan Daushe Durba at the Government House.

The governor re-emphasized the position of administration towards ensuring the principles of politics without bitterness and rancour inline with global best practices.

“We want to ensure equitable distribution of resources so that everyone will benefit. We want to be better than what our predecessors did for the good of the people”.

“We want to ensure that once more, the name of Bauchi becomes a subject of national discourse”, said the governor.
The Governor also pledged reconstruct all the Palaces in the state to give them a befitting looks and aesthetic that is associated with palaces and to also serve as tourists attraction.

The governor then commended the traditional institutions in the state for the support and cooperation with his administration since it was inaugurated in 2019 even as he further reiterated the readiness of his administration to reposition the traditional institutions of the state back to their original status of respect and recognition.

Earlier in his remarks, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu commended the Governor for the respect he is according to traditional institutions saying that it was no surprise to them considering that he is a Prince himself.”
“You are doing everything possible to promote the traditional institutions to a position of pride in the country.

“We will continue to support you in that direction. We recognize your efforts at ensuring peace and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians resident in the state. We are also aware of all you are doing to ensure the security of lives and property. We will continue to support your efforts,” he said.

The Emir also commended the administration for the good things it is doing for the development of the state, saying that the projects either completed or ongoing across the state are unprecedented in the political history of the state.

He also commended the Governor for promoting Agriculture through adequate provisions of farming inputs urging him to ensure that the same was done as the 2022 farming season is gradually setting in.
