In his address shortly before commencement of the training, held at the conference hall of Hazibal Hotel and Suites Bauchi, USAID State2State, Gombe State Team Lead, Muhammad Abubakar said that the objectives of the training, is to among other things, deepen participants’ knowledge and understanding on governance, leadership, and management and also equip them with skills and tools for effective leadership and management.

Other objectives the training will seek to achieve according to Abubakar includes:
• To develop templates (Meeting Invitation Memos, Agenda, Meeting Minutes) for regular coordination meetings among the units/departments within the relevant MDAs.
• Support MDA leaders to identify and revive the moribund internal and external coordination mechanisms/platforms or introduce new mechanisms and platforms.
• Engender a system for sustained intra organizational and inter-organizational coordination meetings among MDAs.
• To identify key issues and challenges related to leadership and management at individual, MDA, and state levels and suggest strategies to mitigate such challenges.
• Make recommendations and develop action plans for instituting regular coordination meetings in the respective MDAs.
In a keynote address, a permanent commissioner with the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Abubakar Kumo said that the training is timely, “especially considering the favourable disposition of the current administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya which also seek to entrench good governance in Gombe State”.
