The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has commenced the implementation of the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance Scheme NEMSAS in Bauchi State.
This initiative is designed to provide timely medical support to victims of accidents and emergencies, including pregnant women, ensuring their quick transport to hospitals and the provision of essential medical services.
The scheme is a collaborative effort between the Ministry, the Bauchi State Government, and international donor agencies.
The official inauguration of the scheme took place at the Government House in Bauchi, presided over by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, following a courtesy visit from the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, who led officials from the Ministry.
During the visit, Governor Bala Mohammed and Minister Pate signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU for the establishment of a Federal Medical Center in Misau, as well as operational guidelines for other federal health institutions in the state.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that the ongoing development of health infrastructure in Bauchi, along with the implementation of NEMSAS, reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to citizens.
He reiterated his administration’s dedication to collaborating with the Federal Government to improve the lives of Bauchi State residents.
In his remarks, Minister Mohammed Ali Pate highlighted that this initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader health sector transformation agenda, aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across the nation.
He also commended the Bauchi State Government for its commitment to partnering with the Federal Government in improving healthcare services and the quality of life for the people.
