Bauchi Extension Workers Trained on  Modern Techniques in Livestock Value Chain

Over 70 Bauchi State extension officers are having a 2 day capacity training on modern techniques for the enhancement of various livestock value chain.

The training which was organised by the World Bank Assisted Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, attracted extension officers  across the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State.

Declaring the training open, Bauchi State Commissioner of Agriculture Professor Simon Madugu Yalams said he has no doubt that the training will have a direct impact on the state and the country at large, as well as the livestock sector of the State.

Professor Yalams said that the training is in-line with the project development objectives of the  L-PRES project.

“Today’s training on modern technologies for the enhancement of various livestock value chain is a significant step that will lead to gaining basic knowledge that will enhance livestock productivity.

“I urge the participants to actively participate in the training, share your expertise and contribute to the Development of innovative guides that will benefit not only the State but set a model for others to follow.  I believe that with the caliber of resource persons I am seeing here, the capacity of our Extension officers will be built further.

“Extension service delivery which is the bedrock for achieving increased productivity in our respective communities and our dear state will be advanced”, said Yalams.

Earlier in keynote remarks,  the State Project Coordinator of L-PRES  Musa Adamu said that the objective of the aim of the training was  to improve knowledge and skills of  Bauchi State extension officers across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi state on modern technologies to enhance various livestock value chain especially beef, dairy and sheep and goat.

According to the Coordinator, the will also build stronger agricultural community and enabling innovation and adoptability in navigating market dynamics.

Adamu also expressed his gratitude to  Governor of Bauchi State Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed  for his Support to the project and providing the enabling environment for the implementation of the project in the State.

Our correspondent reports that resource persons for the training were drawn from the Academia.
