Alhial Initiative Forum, a Bauchi-based All Progressives Congress support group that worked for the success of the APC in the 2023 general elections under Malam Isa Yuguda has expressed concern that Bauchi South Senatorial has suffered neglect since APC assumed the leadership of the country.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi, the support group said two-third the votes of the APC in the last presidential election in Bauchi state came from Bauchi south, yet none of the two ministerial slots was given to the zone.
Chairman of the Forum, Malam Ibrahim Gokaru said, “since 2015, people of Bauchi south Senatorial zone have been voting APC overwhelmingly, yet none of two ministers given to the state in the last administration was from the south.
“We are worried that the same scenario is playing out another two ministerial slots given to state taken up by the other parts of the state, even as the only APC senator is from the south.”
Gokaru said, in the interest of fairness, honour and reward for hard work, Malam Isa Yuguda should be “compensated with strong appointment for his contribution to the success of APC, after all none of the other politicians was seen working for the success of APC as Yuguda as APC will soon need his structure against 2027″.
According to Gokaru, Yuguda is the only politician with strong and wide networks, having former commissioners, advisers, local government council members, lots of assistants and other heads of parastatals as well as assembly members that he mentored and worked with him that were used to smoothen the electoral victory of APC.
He therefore warned that if the experience under the immediate past administration is repeated with all major federal appointments concerned against the zone that produced more votes, people of the South Senatorial zone will be discouraged from supporting the party.
Alhilal Initiative Forum appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give Malam Isa Yiguda a ” befitting appointment that that will be used to restore unity to the party”.
