The immediate past Commissioner of Bauchi State Ministry of Budget and Planning, Aminu Hammayo has tasked management and senior staff of the ministry to mentor their subordinates in order to maintain the tradition of excellence in running the affairs of the ministry.
The former Commissioner also charged senior staff of the Ministry to cascade the knowledge they acquired while in service so that other staff members of the Ministry can also tap from the skills of their seniors.
Hammayo was speaking on Friday 26th May, 2023 at a sent forth meeting organized by the Ministry, saying that he enjoyed tremendous support and cooperation of the entire staff of Ministry while serving at the Ministry.
He implore the staff to take pride in the activities of the ministry, saying that that the mandate of the Ministry makes it a critical entity responsible for planning guidelines for the implementation of Government Policies and programs in line with budget provisions.
The immediate past commissioner also revealed that , prior to his sojourn as commissioner in the ministry, he has was a complete gray-hone in the rudiments of planning and that now he can confidently beat his chest and say he is planner, having served in the ministry intermittently for over Eight years.
Hammayo then thanked the management and staff of the Ministry for their thoughtfulness in organizing the sent forth meeting and also appreciating his contributions and that of other retired staff of the ministry.
Also speaking at the event, the State Head of Service (HoS) Yahuza Adamu, charged the staff of the ministry to be their brother’s keepers and shun all negative energy that could effect the sensitive work they do at the ministry.
Yahuza Adamu, who also served as permanent secretary in the ministry before being appointed as HoS, said they have done their best while at the ministry, through the creation of four directorates for ease of work and also paving way for staff growth to directorate level.
The HoS also said that it is normal to nurse disaffection in the course of discharging official responsibilities, but that the ability to wither such disaffections in such a way it does affect productivity of the ministry is all that matters.
He said that though he is serving at a higher capacity now as HoS, but that his heart will always be in the Ministry.
Earlier in a welcome address, the permanent secretary of the ministry Mallam Saleh Idris Giade expressed his expressed his gratitude to the former commissioner, retired directors and other senior staff for their diligence, zeal and passion in their approach to official assignments.
Idris said he has learnt a great from the immediate past commissioner and some of the retired directors of the ministry, saying that their vast experience as prodigies of the ministry has rubbed on him and also makes his work much easier.
The permanent secretary then prayed for better future endeavors for the former commissioner, retired directors and other retirees whom he described as “bonafide ambassadors of the ministry”.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, the immediate past director of budget in the ministry, Mallam Dahiru Sambo thanked the ministry for honoring them and also seek for forgiveness from the staff for feeling offended by their actions whether directly or indirectly.
Mallam Sambo said that on their part, they have forgiven their former colleagues and further prayed for the repose of the soul of those that died too.
Highlight of the brief event was the presentation of gift to the immediate past commissioner, HoS , former director of donor coordination (now a permanent secretary in the Government House) and the other retirees.
