World Health Organization (WHO) has celebrated its 75 years of being in existence and striving in improving global public health.
In Bauchi State, the world body organized a free medical outreach services targeted at vulnerable members of the community.
Speaking shortly before the commencement of the medical outreach services held at the Pada PHC on Tuesday 4th April 2023 in Bauchi, WHO Bauchi Field office Head of Diseases Surveillance, Dr. Musa Kim Mohammed said that throughout its 75 years of existence, WHO has always strived to keep the world safe and also serve the vulnerable by championing public transformative agenda for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all.

He said that WHO’s commitment to ‘Health for All’ is hinged on the 1948 founding constitution that all humans are human and enshrined in ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages.
Dr. Kim Mohammed said that under WHO’s triple billion goal, the world body is determined to ensure that a billion people benefit from universal health coverage, protect a billion more from health emergencies, and to further provide billion people with better health and well-being.
While highlighting some of WHO’s successes in Bauchi State, Dr. Kim said that WHO has continue to provide technical support to the State Government in the areas of diseases surveillance and outbreak response, routine immunization, PHC revitalization and health systems strengthening.
Other areas of support according to Dr. Kim were in the areas of maternal, child and reproductive health, Malaria, HIV and TB control, and Gender based violence mitigation amongst other support.
Earlier at the Palace of Emir of Bauchi, Dr.Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu congratulated WHO on its 75th anniversary of global humanitarian service and also thanked them for their support towards improved health care services in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.

There was a good will message from the Bauchi State Government through the state commissioner of health Dr. Sabiu Gwalabe saying that Bauchi State is proud to associate with WHO and will continue to partner with them in all their future interventions in State.
