Bauchi CJ Cautions Magistrates on Disrupting Judicial Process in the Administration of Justice

Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar has cautioned magistrates to be just, fair and upright in the dispensation of justice in their respective courts.

The CJ also said that any magistrate found to be disrupting the sanctity of the judicial system will not be spared as disciplinary measures will be applied accordingly.

Justice Rabi Umar gave the caution during the New Year 2023 Celebration meeting organized by the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN), Bauchi State branch.

Represented by Justice Mu’azu A. Abubakar, the CJ, who also served as the Chairman of the occasion, commended the leadership of Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria in the state for their commitment and dedication to their calling and also charged them to brace up for the new year which comes with the Nation’s general elections.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman, Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN) , Bauchi state branch, Abdulmumini Adamu Esq, called on his colleagues to redouble their efforts in discharging their judicial functions.

Abdulmumini Adamu said the year 2023 is unique considering the general elections that comes with enormous challenges such as political betrayal, rivalry, thuggery, and the proliferation of crimes which demand judicial intervention.

The MAN chairman, enjoined Magistrates in the state to exercise their discretionary powers in the overall interest of justice as against any political interests.

He reminded the magistrates on public confidence in judicial administration of justice and also reiterated that, “ justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done from perspective of the common man”.

He commended the effort of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for assenting the financial autonomy bill to guarantee the independence of the judiciary in Bauchi state.
