As the country gears up for the forthcoming general elections, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar have gained the support of all the ethnic minority tribes of Bauchi State.
This support was on the heels of a Coalition of minority ethnic groups in Bauchi State , whose membership cut across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi state.
Addressing journalists at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ Secretariat on Sunday, leader of the group, Hon. Samuel J. Haruna, said their endorsement is hinged on the unprecedented infrastructural development and other life impacting programs of the current administration in the State.
The leader of ethnic minorities whose address was read by Engineer Dabo Yakubu Dabs, spokesperson of the coalition, further commended Governor Mohammed for his exemplary leadership qualities with which he is piloting affairs of Bauchi State which he described as “heart warming”.
“Our assessment is based on the unprecedented successes recorded in the key critical sectors of governance in the areas of health, education, water supply and sanitation, human resource development, inclusive governance and infrastructural development.
“Governor Mohammed has performed creditably well, which has endeared him among his peers from other States. In the three years he has been at helm of affairs, he has achieved far reaching successes ,which has made Bauchi State a reference point in good governance.
“It is instructive to note that if good and inclusive governance are criteria for electing leaders, then Governor Bala Mohammed has fulfil that criteria with his exceptional approach to the administration of Bauchi State.
“We therefore call on all sons and daughters of the state at home and abroad to join hands with us to ensure that the governor Bala Mohammed returns for second term, to consolidate on gains so far recorded in our dear Bauchi State
“We also want to point out that the proactive stance of Governor Bala Mohammed with regards to issues around security. As the chief security officer of the State, he has left no one in doubt regarding protection of lives and properties of Bauchi citizens which has made the state one of the safest in the country today”, said Haruna.
Our correspondent reports that other speakers during the press conference includes the secretary, youth and women leaders of the Coalition. There were also questions from the journalists present, which answered by the spokesman of the coalition.
