To reciprocate the financial and moral support given to Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi by the State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Chairman of club, Alhaji Balarabe Douglas,has pledged to mobilize over five hundred thousand votes for the Governor in 2023 Governorship election in Bauchi State.
The Wikki Tourists Boss made the promise while interacting with Sports journalists in Bauchi after a thanks giving prayers for enabling the team to end the 2021/2022 league season in a comfortable position against the previous years where the Tourists escaped relegation in tears.
He said the success of the team’s on the league table last season was due to the encouragement accorded the Management, Technical Crew and Players by Governor Bala Mohammed through financial and moral support that boosted the morale of the team.
Douglas further commended the Governor for his kind gesture in ensuring that both technical officials and players get their salaries,match bonuses and other allowances as at when due.
The chairman said ” in recognition of this gesture i will do everything humanly possible to reciprocate and justify the confidence reposed in me by the state government to mobilize support of over five hundred thousand Wikki supporters and fans to vote for the return of Governor Bala Mohammed in 2023 to serve for the next four years”.
Douglas said “sports, particularly football, is a political platform used to achieve success, therefore we will use Wikki Tourists popularity across the state to garner support for Governor Bala Mohammed come 2023”.
While commending Wikki Tourists supporters club and fans for their support, prayers and understanding that led to the teams outstanding performance, Balarabe, used the forum to thank sports journalists in the state and by extension across the country for the wide coverage of the team’s activities including positive advices to the management that yielded positive results.
On the ongoing Aiteo cup, Balarabe expressed confidence that with the present performance of the team he has no doubt in mind that Wikki Tourists will make the state proud thereby securing continental ticket for Governor Bala Mohammed to justify his investment in the team.
