Bauchi State Government Declares Monday Public Holiday to Mark New Islamic Year

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has declared Monday 1st August, 2022 as work free day to mark the beginning of the New Islamic year 1444 AH.

A press statement by Mukhtar Gidado , Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor, said that the Governor also congratulated all Muslims in the State on the spiritual importance of the New Islamic Year and urged them to use the period to strengthen Unity , Peaceful co-existence and interpersonal relationship with adherents of other faiths.

Governor Bala Mohammed then called on the Muslims Ummah to use the holiday and seek for Allah’s forgiveness , the need for Muslims faithfuls to imbibe the spirit of kindness , humility and respect for one another and pray for sustained peace and security in the State as well as for adequate rainfall for a bumper harvest during this farming season.

The Governor applauded the people of the State for their support and prayers to his administration and reiterated his determination to work assiduously with all relevant stakeholders in the State to sustain the gains recorded in critical sectors of the economy.

The first lunar month of the New Islamic Year , Muharram , commenced on Saturday 30th July , 2022.
