Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has felicitated with Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the 2022 Eid-El-Kabir celebration, urging them to use the period to strengthen their existing interpersonal relationships.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Bauchi Governor Muktar Gidado, saying that, in a goodwill message on the occasion, the governor recalled that, the eid-el-Kabir is celebrated annually in commemoration of the great sacrifice and total submission of Prophet Abraham (AS) to the will of Allah when he answered the Divine call to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Isma’il which is the highest spiritual sacrifice that has ever been made in observance of divine injunction.
Describing the sacrifice as a worthy of emulation, especially by the Muslim Umma, Governor Mohammed said the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir should be used to reflect on how the muslims fared morally and spiritually during the last one year so as to take corrective measures, where necessary, for them to be amongst the believers who will enjoy the mercies of Allah (SWT) in the hereafter.
“I want to start by giving Glory to Allah (SWT) for sparing our lives to witness yet another Eid-el-Kabir celebration Islam as a religion that propagates total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) and peaceful co-existence amongst the Muslim Ummah and with adherents of other faiths, the Holy Qur’an has also commanded all Muslims to give something (in charity) out of the treasure which Allah has bestowed on them. This should be done without consideration for religious, ethnic or political differences.
“I want to appeal to all motorists to observe traffic regulations, so that we can minimize accidents on our highways throughout the period of Eid-el-Kabir celebration and beyond. I also appeal to parents to monitor the movement of their children and wards in order to reduce the incidents of missing children during this festivity.”
He stressed the need for Muslim faithful to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another and pray for the prevailing peace in the state to be sustained and for adequate rainfall for a bumper harvest during this farming season.
The governor used the opportunity to reiterate his administration’s commitment to continue to serve the good people of Bauchi State and to take the State to greater heights and pointed out that, since the inception of the administration about three years ago, it has delivered devidends of democracy in infrastructural development, education, health, water supply, youth and women empowerment, housing, agriculture among others.
“We will continue to pursue developmental projects that have direct bearing on the lives of our people in the remaining one year of our first term in Sha Allah. We are not unmindful of the economic hardship being experienced by the generality of the people. This is a global problem which has its origin in the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020. I want to appeal to you to bear with the situation which Is temporary, as a responsive and responsible Government, we will continue to render palliative measures with a view to cushioning the effects of the hardship.”
