Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA) has recognized outstanding performance among it’s personnel, institutions and other stakeholders at the facility levels.
In his remarks at the occasion held at the banquet hall of Zaranda Hotel on Tuesday, 24th May 2022, the Bauchi State Deputy Governor Senator Baba Tela said that the award and recognition is aimed at further strengthening the accountability framework, using the principle of appropriate rewards for good performance, and relevant sanctions for misconduct.
The deputy governor ,who also double as the State Chairman, Tasks Force on Primary Healthcare said, “It is imperative to note that the awards of recognition should be seen as mark of encouragement and motivation for continuous hard-work”.
While reiterating the commitment of the State Government in the provision of quality health care services, Tela said, “ Bauchi State Government has paid the sum of N109, 709,494 into the PHC Basket Account, being 50 percent of the counterpart funding for the year 2022. This has made the State the first partner to redeem part of it’s commitment for this year under the MoU with some partners”.
The Deputy Governor also thanked development partners for their continuous technical and financial support to the State.
Also speaking the Executive Chairman of BSPHCDA Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed said that the occasion has served the dual purpose of hosting the quarterly review meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Health Care as well as the awarding deserving individuals, PHCs, LGAs and Community leaders.
According to Dr. Mohammed, the categories of award recipients which comes in first, second and third positions, include:
• Best performing health post,
• Best performing PHCC and
• Best performing LGA.
Other categories were:
• Best performing traditional leaders and
• Special awards, which are based on track records
Our correspondent reports that Jama’are LGA emerged overall best LGA, while Kutunus PHCC in Gamawa LGA comes first in the Best performing PHC category. In the Health Post category, Ganjuwa health post, in Dass LGA came tops, while Tulu PHCC of Toro LGA got the award in the best performing PHCC category.
Also, 46 Ward Heads and 9 retired PHC directors were duly recognized at the occasion.
In the special award category, Development partners in health interventions awarded the State Deputy Governor Senator Baba Tela and Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman for their doggedness, steadfastness and immense contributions in the State health care sector.
Also, a facility in-charge from Kyonkiyal PHCC in Darazo LG Aisha Isma’il was awarded for her outstanding performance in health facility management, while Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Mbal was recognized as best performing proprietary patent medicine vendor respectively.
