Eighteen (18) councilors of Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State have dissociated themselves from the purported suspension of the Council Chairman Mahmuda Hassan Tabla.
The Councilors also called on Governor Bala Mohammed to, as a matter of urgency, wade into the matter before it plunge the LG into civil upheavals.
The 18 councilors made their position known today (Thursday) at a press conference held at the secretariat of the correspondents’ chapel of the Bauchi State Council of NUJ.
Speaking further, the Chairman and Speaker of the 18 councilors, Yakubu Anas Mohammed said that, “we never sat, deliberated and resolved to suspend our Executive Chairman”.
The councilors further stressed that, “we are in total support of our chairman. He has done nothing wrong to warrant suspension”.
The council members then called on the state Governor to be wary of some politicians that are hell bent on denting the impeccable record he has in the LG.
“We want to advise His Excellency to be wary of some selves serving politicians around him, who are using the issue of an alleged involvement of the Chairman in the deforestation of the Lame/Burra Game Reserve to achieve their hidden agenda of removing the Executive Chairman. They thought the chairman will be a stumbling block in their quest for elective positions”, said the councilors.
The Councilors concluded the press conference by reiterating their unalloyed loyalty to Governor Mohammed’s administration stressing that, “ at this point in time, it is us the people of Ningi that are indebted to Governor Mohammed because of what he did to us. He gave us the Speaker of the State House of Assembly , Head of Civil Service, the Accountant General et al. This is beside the physical infrastructural development that he brought to the people of Ningi LG”.
Our correspondent reports that the position of the councilors came shortly after a letter signed by the council secretary, stating the suspension of the chairman of the council, was making round on social media platforms.
