In what can be described as innovative and a total departure from regular life saving skills programs for the upliftment of the less privileged in the society, a Bauchi based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation (ASHH Foundation) with support from Women for Women International (WFWI) have trained 15 vulnerable women in the arts of cosmetics makeup in Bauchi Local Government Area of the State.

In a routine supervision carried out by the Executive Director of ASHH Foundation Ms. Comfort Attah, our correspondent gathered that it was just one out the many women empowerment program targeted at vulnerable groups in the communities within Bauchi Local Government Area that is being implemented by the NGO, with support from WFWI.

Ms. Attah, while supervising the training, said that the art of cosmetics makeup in the society has become an avenue of making money and that that was what prompted ASHH Foundation, Women for Women International and other partners to design the training so that the beneficiaries can be better equipped to delve into such enterprise.

The ED said that all their empowerment initiatives are targeted at the most vulnerable members of the community with a view to giving them a sense of belonging and also improve their economic status in their respective communities.

Attah reiterated that, their empowerment programs also targets people living with disability too, inline with global best practices and the new world order of social inclusion.

Our correspondent observed that some of the beneficiaries of the cosmetic makeup training are people living with disability, who were seen being attentive and visibly excited about their new vocation.

While commending the beneficiaries for their enthusiasm, zeal and passion on their new found vocation, Attah said that very soon they will be given their starter packs to enable them establish their own businesses.

“I hope that by the time you establish your own business, you too will train others in your communities, so that they too, will also become self reliant like you. It is by so doing that society can develop, create wealth and reduce poverty level amongst people”, said Attah.

Some of beneficiaries that spoke to our correspondent expressed their gratitude to ASHH Foundation, Women for Women International and others that made their training possible.

Highlights of the supervision was when one of the people living with disability applied the skills acquired in the art of makeup on the face of the Executive Director, amidst cheers, banters and pageantry.
