The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), on Wednesday, commended 30 women undergoing skills acquisition training in Bauchi state for paying undivided attention to the training.

Mr Sunday Apakasa, Director, Small Scale Enterprises (SSE) Department, NDE, Headquarters, made the commendation in Bauchi during the second day of a five-day training exercise.

Represented by Mrs Justina Akoji, Senior Enterprise Development Officer (SEDO), NDE Headquarters, Apakasa said the women were being trained on how to make wigs, turban headgears, as well as how to make decorative paint.

“They have been very impressive, they have been paying utmost attention to the training and that’s why I told the state coordinator that Bauchi women are very intelligent. Their attentiveness is one hundred per cent.

“If you ask them all the materials needed from number one till the last, to make that decorative paint, they will list them all for you.

“Decorative paint these days replaces wallpapers and it is very marketable, lucrative and that’s why we are also training them on how to make it.

“People are no longer buying wallpapers again because once water touches it, it peels out but your decorative paint stays intact,” he said.

Apakasa who revealed that the training was taking place in all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Fikpo had also ordered for the payment of N25,000 loan to each of the trainees to start their businesses after the training.

“When you multiply N25,000 with the numbers of the trainees, it is N750,000,” said Apakasa.
