Sexual Molestation of Underaged Girls: NAWOJ Calls for Persecution of 61 Year Old Lebanese Man in Jos

Against the background of an alleged sexual molestation of ten underaged girls by a 61 year old Lebanese residence of Jos, the Plateau State capital, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ , Plateau State Chapter has called for the prosecution of the alledged culprit.
Chairman of the Association, Mrs. Jennifer Yarima made the call after a closed door meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Police Finance and Administrative Department Warebi Owotorufa, the DCP Criminal Investigative Department Mohammad Bume and the Police Public Relations Officer ASP GABRIEL UBA.
A news item on Radio Nigeria Highland FM Jos monitored by correspondent said, Mrs. Yarima, was speaking on the outcome of the meeting, calling on the Police to ensure they carry out thorough investigation and appealed to residents of the vicinity where the alledged act took place to provide evidence for Justice to prevail.
She also appeal to good spirited individuals to support the victims as well as authorities concerned to provide trauma counselling sessions for the affected girls.
Also speaking , chairperson of the international Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA Plateau State Chapter, Mrs. Mary Izam , represented by the Vice Chairman, expressed optimism that the police would handle the matter appropriately.
She advised parents to educate their children and monitor them closely to avoid sexual abuses.
It could be recalled that there was unrest at Abattoir area of Jos, as residents came out in their numbers to protest against a Lebanese accused of engaging minors in sexual activities and making pornographic videos of his victims.
According to residents of the area, the girls are less than 15 years, out of which they alleged that two are already pregnant.
The situation was however put under control by security agents while the man was the man arrested by the police.
