Pantami Commissions NITDA’s Projects at ATBU Bauchi, Enugu, Others

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, has commissioned Information Technology Innovation and Incubation Park at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, which was constructed and equipped by National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Speaking at the virtual commissioning of the project in Bauchi, Pantami commended the agencies under his Ministry for advancing the course of digital economy, saying that the projects were in tandem with President Muhammadu Buhari’ tripartite agenda which include; economic development, curbing corruption and improving security of the country.

“It is the goal of the Federal Government to leverage ICT to address developmental issues in our country and that is what we have been doing in the Ministry by facilitating development of Nigeria’s digital economy targets through a number of policy and regulatory initiatives” Pantami said.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Vice Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, who was represented by Professor Ibrahim Mohammed Danjuma, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics said the centre will help the institution to nurture students that will have the commensurate capacity for IT driven economy.

Professor Danjuma described the commissioning of the centre as timely, pointing out that only IT driven knowledge will sustain E-economy which Nigeria yearns for at the moment.

He commended NITDA and the Minister, adding that the university will make good use of the facilities.

Our correspondent reports that other similar projects commissioned and executed by NITDA nationwide include Emergency Communication Centres established by the NCC in both Ogun and Enugu states, Community ICT Centre, Dutse, Jigawa State, Digital Economy Centres (DEC) in Imo State Polytechnic; Garki Secondary School, Abuja and Ojodu Grammar School, Ojodu, Lagos State.
