New NGO Commences Operations in Jos, Donates Food Items to Orphanages

A Nigerian based Non Governmental Organization (NGO), The MotherHen Initiative has reached out to the needy by donating food Items and other essentials commodities to some orphanages in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

At the Anwarul Faidha and Simji Orphanages, while donating the food items and essential commodities, the chief executive officer and founder of MotherHen Initiative, Hajiya Larai Hassan said the objective of the NGO is to touch the lives of the less privileged and needy in the society through such assistance.

Other areas of competence of the NGO, according to founder are focused on girl child education, women empowerment, care for the Almajiri et al.

The founder said the distribution of the food items and other commodities is inline with the commencement of the Ramadan fasting period.

“This is a time when dedication in prayers and sharing with the less privileged and needy are highly encouraged. I hope other NGOs will emulate such gestures in order to give targeted beneficiaries a sense of belonging and care”, said Hassan.

Hajiya Hassan also used the distribution exercise to disclosed that the occasion was also, “a commemorative event, heralding the presence of MotherHen Initiative in Jos and to also showcase how it intends to carryout it’s activities in all the nooks and crannies of the country, targeting underserved members of the community”.

The founder and CEO used the occasions to explained that, “MotherHen Initiative is non profit humanitarian initiative established to impact positively in the lives of the less privileged and other vulnerable groups such as orphans, irrespective of tribe or religious affiliations”.

“The choice of the two orphanages was carefully done to establish confidence and balance as a new normal in Jos, to pave way for greater peaceful coexistence among the people in a fast-healing society that badly needs those virtues”.

Responding, the heads of the two orphanages Sheikh Mallam Harisu and Simi Goshwe expressed their sincere appreciation to the new NGO and promised to judiciously use the items donated.

The highlight of the occasion was the glaring heart-warming joy and happiness that radiated on the faces of the children in the orphanages visited.

Our correspondent reports that, other members of the MotherHen Initiative team on the outreach visits include program manager Ladi Mu’azu,  Monitoring and Evaluation officer, Engr. Sa’idu Hassan and other staff of the NGO .
