LGI Built Youth Capacity on Leadership, Governance Skills in Bauchi

A Nigerian based Non Profit Organization, Lead Generation Initiative (LGI) has, on Friday commenced a Two Days intensive capacity building training on leadership, governance and entrepreneurial skills designed for youths from Bauchi and Gombe states.

Speaking shortly before the commencement of the training, the initiator and chairman board of trustees of LGI, Honourable Shina Abiola Peller said the mission of LGI was to build, develop and support a new generation of leaders with a socio-political culture to trigger positive change in Nigeria.

Peller said that, the objective of the training was to create opportunities for young people to channel their energy, creativity and aspirations aimed towards adding value to their respective communities.

“We harness and develop the interests of our youth in governance, social inclusion and participation in the democratic and developmental processes in Nigeria”.

The board of trustees chairman who reiterated his commitment in carrying youth along, further said that, “ In LGI, we are focused on building a new generation of young people that may take responsibility for fixing leadership challenges within their communities and the nation through active participation in the socio-political processes”.

In a goodwill message, the Bauchi State Commissioner of police, Lawal Tanko Jimeta commended LGI for organizing the training, describing it as timely.

Represented by the public relations officer of the command SP Ahmed Wakili, the commissioner said that youth are key stakeholders in nation building and should be equipped with all the necessary skills in governance and leadership skills to prepare them for future responsibilities.

One of the participants from Gombe Aisha Abubakar who spoke to our correspondent expressed her happiness for being part of the training.

She said when she gets back to her community, she will put to practice what she learnt and also create more awareness to her contemporaries on the need to pay attention to governance and leadership in their communities.

The Two Days training tagged “Get Involved”, with resource persons drawn from Yiaga Africa, attracted over 150 youth from Bauchi and Gombe states and is expected to end on Saturday.
