Bauchi State Records 8 Deaths from Reported Cases of Yellow Fever

Executive chairman Bauchi  State  Primary Health Development Agency Dr Rilwanu Mohammad says 8 reported cases deaths from yellow fever has been recorded in the State.
The Chairman who disclosed this to journalists at a briefing on Monday evening in Bauchi,  said all the cases are from two wards of Ganjuwa Local Government area of the state.
“During last week’s immunization exercise, 8 persons were reported death as a result of a suspected disease, but after samples were taken and tested, the results came out positive for yellow fever”.
Dr. Mohammad said the agency has reactivated its rapid response team that include Case Management Pillar, Surveillance and  Risk Communication Pillars.
He further revealed that the Federal Government had programmed a preventive vaccination for 19 Local Government areas of the state for February 2021.
“With this development the Agency will carryout vaccination in the two wards and eventually cover the entire Local Government”.
The Chairman emphasized on the need for families to keep a clean environment.
Our correspondent reports that last year the state recorded 77 deaths from yellow fever scourge.
