Bauchi Ministry of Housing and Environment Showcases Achievements

Bauchi State Ministry of Housing and Environment has presented its scorecard to journalists at the ongoing ministerial press briefing holding in Bauchi.

Presenting some of the achievements on Wednesday 3rd July, 2024, the State Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule said that under the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed, the State Government has signed an MoU with Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) for the construction of affordable housing units to alleviate housing deficit of workers and general public.

The Commissioner said that already work on the project has reached appreciable level with most of the housing projects reaching over 80 percent completion.

Kawule also said since inception, the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed has embarked on various measures aimed at improving the living standards, welfare and infrastructural development, notable of which was the reconstruction and upgrading of the State Government House.

“The idea of the  Project was coined having noted that the previous administration Government House Building has outlived its usefulness as the most prestigious office in the State”.

“Apart from the operational inconveniences it poses to the Government, the building was a low-esteemed edifice because of passge of time, there was therefore the need for upgrading to serve as a befitting office accommodation for the State Chief Executive”, said Kawule.

On milestones recorded under Environment, the Commissioner said that the Ministry, through the State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) , has been consistent in carrying out public enlightenment campaigns and disseminating vital information on environmental and ecological matters, and also mobilize the general for effective compliance to environmental rules and guidelines, for the purpose of healthy and safe environment.

Other areas where the Commissioner highlighted the successes of the Ministry was in the areas of forestry, where efforts at massive tree plantation is ongoing with a view to building shelter belts and mitigating climate change challenges and giving aesthetics to the State.
