Bauchi State Government Reads Riot Act to Preachers of Inciteful Sermons

Against the background of rumours making rounds in some quarters of an impending protest against remarks credited to an Islamic cleric, Bauchi State Government has cautioned  clerics against  using inciting statements in the name of religious preaching.

The State Government, through the Secretary to the State Government Barrister Ibrahim Kashim stated this shortly after meeting with head of security agencies at the Government House on Monday.

The SSG said that Government will fold its arms and and watched the peace that is being enjoyed in the State being threaten by some people through their sermons and that security agencies have been  directed  to pay close attention and  nib the problem at the bud.

Barrister Ibrahim Kashim who expressed displeasure on the mode of preaching by some Bauchi based clerics maintained that government would not allow such actions to cause conflict and disunity among different sects.

According to him, religion is a sensitive issue hence the move by government to ensure preachers are respecting the views of one another to guarantee peaceful coexistence.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Police Aminu Alhassan said the police and other security operatives would intensity operations in all the nooks and crannies to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.
