One hundred and forty-five (145) women have graduated from a year-long Social Analysis and Action Programme under the CASCADE project in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The training, implemented by the Development Exchange Centre, focused on empowering women through livelihood, nutrition, and gender equity education.

The Social Analysis and Action Programme, also known as SAA, brought together fifteen women groups drawn from various communities in Dass LGA.

Over the past twelve months, participants engaged in discussions on ending harmful cultural norms, gender-based violence, and promoting healthy practices such as exclusive breastfeeding and hospital delivery.

CASCADE’s Gender Technical Officer, Ann Alberta Bot, said the sessions were designed to challenge stereotypes, promote dialogue, and strengthen household wellbeing through improved nutrition and economic empowerment.

One of the beneficiaries, A’isha Abubakar of the Tsintsiya Women Group, said the training has encouraged peace and shared responsibilities within her family.

Chairman of the Dass Ward Development Committee, Sama’ila Haruna, commended CASCADE for reshaping community attitudes toward gender and nutrition, describing it as a major step toward positive social change.

The CASCADE project, which stands for “Catalyzing Strengthened Policy Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience,” is currently being implemented across five local government areas of Bauchi State, including Bauchi, Dass, Jama’are, Ningi, and Toro.
