The newly deployed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Dutsen Tanshi Division in Bauchi metropolis, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ahmed Wakili, has called for stronger collaboration between the police and community members as a strategic approach to curbing crime within his area of jurisdiction.
CSP Wakili made the call on Friday shortly after the Juma’at prayer at the Federal Low-Cost Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi. He disclosed plans to embark on regular engagements with congregations in mosques and churches across the division to foster cooperation aimed at tackling criminal activities, particularly thuggery popularly known as Sara-Suka.

According to the DPO, security is a collective responsibility, noting that perpetrators of most crimes often reside within the same communities where such acts occur. He stressed that meaningful community involvement remains critical to effective policing and crime prevention.
CSP Wakili further assured residents that his administration would operate an open-door policy, encouraging members of the public to freely share credible information with the police to help mitigate crime and criminality within their neighbourhoods and Bauchi State at large.
He warned that under his leadership, individuals involved in Sara-Suka activities, including robbery and the infliction of injuries on innocent citizens, would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.
In his response, the Imam of the Juma’at Mosque commended the DPO for the proactive engagement and urged members of the congregation to support the police by cooperating with security agencies to ensure peace, law, and order in society.
